Established in 1914, Stag produced high quality, stylish, and affordable furniture that catered to the growing demand for modern, functional designs. After World War II, Stag became a household name in the UK, especially during the 1950s and 1960s, when there was a significant need for practical and well designed home furniture. The brand’s peak coincided with the rise of mid century modern design, and it offered contemporary pieces that were both stylish and accessible.Notably, the Stag Concord and Stag C Range which were designed by John and Sylvia Reid. These collections were more modern, with sleek lines and functional designs. Now considered collectible, especially among mid century modern enthusiasts.Stag furniture was known for blending functionality with minimalist elegance. The designs were typically simple and sturdy, often emphasising the practical needs of everyday living. While they primarily used wood, their designs also included veneering techniques, which made the furniture more affordable without compromising on style.Stag’s legacy lies in its ability to capture the spirit of modern living in the post-war period, creating functional, elegant, and affordable furniture for the everyday home.
